Jussier Formiga
Jussier Formiga or Jussier da Silva is a mixed martial artist born on April 14, 1985. He is a Brazilian who is currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The professional fights under the flyweight division and had been a former champion of Shooto South America. As of August 2015, he is ranked by UFC third in his division and eighth in the world by Sherdog.
The Brazilian athlete started his mixed martial arts career in 2008 under Shooto. After Shooto, Da Silva transferred to Tachi Palace Fights and won his first fight with Danny Martinez. It was in 2012 when the athlete signed in UFC.
Da Silva was born in Natal in Rio Grande do Norte. He is better known in mixed martial arts as Formiga or the “ant”. He stands 5 feet and 5 inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. He comes with a 67-inch reach and trains with Nova Uniao. The Brazilian professional boasts of a black belt in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has been fighting since 2005. His latest fights happened last May and November of 2015 where he fought with Wilson Reis and Henry Cejudo. He won his fight with Reis via unanimous decision but lost against Cejudo via split decision.
At present, he comes with an impressive mixed martial arts record of 22 fights with 18 wins and 4 losses. His wins include 8 by submission and 10 by decision. His 4 losses include 2 by knockout and 2 by decision.
