Bethe Correia
Beth Correia aka “Pitbull” is a professional mixed martial artist born in Campina Grande, Paraiba, Brazil on June 22, 1983. She currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight division and trains under the Pitbull Brothers Association.
Correia graduated from college with a degree in Accountancy as she found out that she was too hyperactive for office work. Correia, on her experience practicing Sanda, had led her to finally realize what had been missing in her life hence sought to compete in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Correia studied several techniques at the first phase of her MMA career. This includes jiu-jitsu, Sanda, and amateur wrestling. She then later on developed a preference for striking, most particularly in boxing and kickboxing.
Her first professional MMA debut was at the First Fight Revelations in 2012 and went up against Daniela Maria Da Silva where Correia won via unanimous decision.
In October 2013, Correia signed up a multi-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and made her promotional debut December of the same year as then she faced MMA veteran Julie Kedzie. Correia won the fight against Kedzie via a split decision in UFC Fight Night 33.
Correia is one of the remarkable professional MMA fighter in the women’s division. She was known for her use of dirty boxing and cutting of the cage. This had led her to be known more at the UFC 172 where she won against Jessamyn Duke via unanimous decision.
Bethe Correia has an impressive record of 10 fights with only one loss against Ronda Rousey at the UFC 190 in 2015 where she was defeated via a KO at the 34 minute mark of the first round.
