Faced with a challenge to face Amanda Nunes again, Cris Cyborg has not shown signs off possibly accepting the rematch. According to Dana White, the UFC president, Cyborg is hesitant to accept mostly due to fear.
In December 2018, Cyborg put up the UFC featherweight title on the line while going against Nunes. However, Nunes was able to knockout Cyborg quickly in just 51 seconds. As a result, she became the first ever UFC female fighter to hold titles simultaneously.
When White spoke to TMZ, he gave his assessment of the possible rematch, and the reason why Cyborg has not booked it yet.
According to White, “I think it’s pretty obvious why she wouldn’t want that fight. It’s a bad fight for her. I think that [Cyborg] is at the point where she’s afraid to lose again. Losing again isn’t something she’s interested in.”
As Cyborg takes on Felicia Spencer this coming July 27 at the UFC 240, she will be entering her last fight based on her current UFC deal. The headline for the said event will be a match between Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway.
On the other hand, Amanda Nunes is just fresh off a TKO victory against Holly Holm. This was during the first round of their bout. During the said match, Nunes was able to land a head kick, after which some punches sealed the deal and awarded her victory.
