An unexpected but glorious fight between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey, exploded in the Octagon Sunday at the UFC 193 at the Etihad Stadium.
Although Holly Holm had a 10-0 record and a world boxing championship around her belt, Ronda Rousey was considered the stronger and fiercer fighter. She also currently reigns as the Bantamweight Champion in the UFC giving her the upper hand and the support of most UFC fans.
To the surprise of the 56,214 fans who attended the UFC event in Melbourne, Holms knocked out Rousey at the second round of the fight via a left head kick leaving a bloodied and defeated Rousey on the ground.
Devastated, Rousey was later on brought to a Melbourne hospital to be treated after the unexpected knockout and to have her facial cuts treated. Although physically okay, the athlete’s spirit is definitely at one of her lowest.
Holm on the other hand is in cloud nine. She believes that the support of her fans, the best coaching and hard work practically paid off. The athlete claims that she had never spent so much time preparing for a fight except for this epic one with Rousey.
During the first round of the brawl, it was pretty obvious that Rousey was prepared to exchange punches with the former boxing champion. Rousey even didn’t attempt to take Holm down until the later part of the first round. Rousey’s coaches presumed that Holly Holm will definitely keep her distance, thus requiring Rousey to pressure her and get her on the corner of the cage. Unluckily, for Rousey, Holm managed to find a hole in her defense which led the former into victory.
Fans of the formidable Ronda Rousey may be disappointed but believes that their idol will definitely comeback stronger than ever.
