Matt Carkner

Matt Carkner is a Canadian defenseman on the Ottawa Senators.

Carkner was drafted in 1999 by the Montreal Canadiens, after posting 18 points and 173 penalty minutes in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes. Carkner played 12 seasons in the OHL and AHL, recording at least 100 penalty minutes every year. In 2001-02, he had 335 penalty minutes with the Cleveland Barons. He played in one NHL game with the San Jose Sharks in the 2005-06 season. He appeared in one game for the Senators in 2008-09, and made their roster for the 2009-10 season, recording 31 penalty minutes in his first 12 games.
