Marek Malik
Marek Malik is a Czech defenseman on the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Malik was originally drafted by the Hartford Whalers in 1993, and joined the club in 1995. He spent 1997-98 in the Elitserien with the Malmo Redhawks, before returning to the Whalers franchise, which was now the Carolina Hurricanes. He set career highs in 2001-02, with 23 points and 88 penalty minutes. He was traded to Vancouver in 2003, where he finished 2003-04 tied for the best +/- rating in the NHL with +35. He signed with the New York Rangers in 2005, where he spent three seasons before signing with Tampa Bay in 2008.
Malik has played for the Czech Republic five times, winning a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
