Manny Fernandez
Manny Fernandez is a Canadian goalie on the Boston Bruins.
Fernandez was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques, but did not break into the league until 1994, with the Dallas Stars. He spent 5 seasons in Dallas as the backup, before being traded to Minnesota in 2000, where he got a chance to compete for the starting job. He ended up splitting time with Dwayne Roloson until Roloson was traded to Edmonton. He played better after becoming the starter, but was traded to Boston after young phenom Nicklas Backstrom stole his spotlight, and his job. In Boston, Fernandez played only 10 games last season, but has emerged this season as part of one of the top goalie combinations in the league with fellow keeper Tim Thomas.
