Chris Higgins
Chris Higgins is an American center on the Florida Panthers.
Higgins was drafted by Montreal in 2002, 14th overall. Higgins played his college hockey at Yale University, where he was an All-American. Higgins played 2 games for the Canadiens in 2003, and had his breakout season in 2007-08, scoring 27 goals and 25 assists for 52 points. In 2008-09, Higgins served as the Canadiens' alternate captain for part of the season, but played only 57 games due to injury. As a result, he scored only 12 goals and 23 points. In the offseason, Higgins was the main part of a trade that saw former Ranger Scott Gomez sent to Montreal. Higgins was expected to perform like he did offensively in 2007-08 while he played in New York. He didn't quite live up to those expectations, scoring just 6 goals and 14 points in 55 games before being traded to Calgary for Olli Jokinen at the trade deadline. He signed with Florida in the 2010 offseason, and will again be expected to contribute consistently on an offensively underpowered team.
