Alexandre Burrows is a Canadian left winger on the Vancouver Canucks.
Burrows was undrafted after playing in the QMJHL. He signed with the Manitoba Moose in 2003, and earned a call-up to Vancouver in 2005. He has since been a permanent member of the Canucks’ roster. He has never been a major offensive threat, with 2007-08 being his best season (12 goals, 31 points). However, Burrows has been one of the best defensive forwards on the Canucks, contributing on the league’s top penalty kill unit. In 2007, he was paired with fellow defensive forward Ryan Kesler, and the two formed the heart of one of the top two-way linesin the league. After the All-star break in 2009, Burrows was placed on the top line with the Sedin twins, while Kesler remained on the second line with Demitra and Mats Sundin. The move worked, as it finally gave the Canucks two solid scoring lines, and helped them win the Northwest Division in 2009.
