Eric Belanger is a Canadian center on the Washington Capitals.

Belanger was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1996. He played four more seasons in various junior leagues, including the QMJHL, IHL and AHL before making his NHL debut in 2000. He played 62 games his rookie season and finished with 21 points. Belanger has consistently improved over the past 8 years, increasing his point totals in every season except 2006-07, which he spent with three different teams after being traded to Carolina from LA. He was traded to Atlanta, via Nashville, later the same year. In 2007, he signed with the Wild, and set a career high with 24 assists, matching his career high points total with 37. He put up 36 points the following year, but was traded to Washington at the 2010 trade deadline. He scored 6 points for the Caps in the last 17 games of the year, and remained with the club after their disappointing first round exit in the playoffs.
