Karl Alzner is a defenseman on the Washington Capitals.
Alzner was drafted in the first round by the Washington Capitals in 2007. He has played five seasons in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen. In 260 games, he has 98 assists and 117 points, high numbers for a defenseman. He won the WHL player of the year and defenseman of the year awards in 2007-08.
Alzner played for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships in 2007, where he won a gold medal. He was also captain of the Canadian junior team in 2008.
