Steve Wagner
Steve Wagner is an American defenseman on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Wagner was undrafted after spending a number of years playing for Minnesota State University. He signed with St. Louis in 2007, and earned a spot on the team for the 2007-08 season. While he played only 24 games, he still put up 8 points, recording an assist in his first NHL game. Wagner is a young defenseman with a tremendous upside and was expected to be one of the pieces of the rebuilding effort in St. Louis. However, in 2010, he was traded to Pittsburgh for prospect Nate Guenin. He was re-signed by the Pens, and will compete for one of the bottom pairing spots at training camp. With a number of veterans already on the squad, it's likely he'll end up playing in the AHL.
