Sergeii Olegowitsch Zinovjev is a Russian professional ice hockey player who was born on March 4, 1980 in Prokopyevsk, Russian SFSR. Zinovjev is best known for being the center player of Salavat Yulaev Ufa, a professional club that is a part of the KHL or the Kontinentalen Hockey Liga.
Zinovjev started his professional career when he was signed by Mettalurg Novokuznetsk in 1995. There, he honed his playing skills for five years and soon caught the attention of other major leagues and was inevitably signed by Locomotive Yarolsavl. After just a year, Zinovjev then transferred to HK Spartak Moscow where he spent another year in the club before transferring to Ak Bars Kazan.
In 2000, Zinovjev was drafted in the NHL Entry Draft of the same year, and was the choice for the Boston Bruins. However, Zinovjev was able to play with the Bruins only in 2003 where he played for just a year. Zinovjev then went back to play with Ak Bars Kazan for four years before transferring to HC Dynamo Moscow before eventually being signed by his current club, Salavat Ufa Julajew in 2009.
