Sergei Gimayev
Sergei Gimayev is Russian ice hockey player who is playing for Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League. Born on February 16, 1984, he was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round as the 166th overall draft pick during the 2003 NHL Entry drafts. Gimayev started his playing career in 2003 and is known as an excellent defenseman.
He first played with the Cherepovets Severstal of the Russian league for the 2002-2003 season and continued with the team for the two succeeding season. By the 2004-2005 season he moved to play with the Novosibirsk Siber of the Russian League before moving on to play with Moscow Dynamo from 2005 to 2007. He went back to play with the Cherepovets Severstal for the 2007-2008 season before moving on to play with Astana Barys, his current team, in 2008.
He played his highest number of games during the 2009-2010 season with Astana Barys of the KHL. He also scored the highest number of goals in his career in this season, as well as the highest number of assists.
