Kirill Petrov

Kirill Andreyevich Petrov is a Russian who plays professional ice hockey for Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk, a team which is a part of the KHL or Kontinental Hockey League. Born on April 13, 1990 in Kazan, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, Petrov started playing professional ice hockey when he was drafted in 2008 by the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League.

As of 2010, Petrov was a part of the Russian team that participated in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships of the said year. He led his whole team in terms of score, and was even promoted to the position of team captain by competition’s end.

Petrov has a contract with Ak Bars Kazan, which has hindered many interested teams from getting him on board. Since he was drafted by the New York Islanders, and is still under Ak Bars Kazan contract, he must wait until his contract has expired or until the team sets him free before he can sign up with the Islanders.
