Derrick Walser
Derrick Walser is a professional ice hockey player who is currently a part of the German Ice Hockey League, playing for Eisbaren Berlin. Walser was born on May 12, 1978 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and has started his first few years as a professional player for the Canadian Junior Football League.
Walser has actually started playing professionally since 1994 when he was a part of the Harfang de Beauport. He spent his first 3 seasons there before transferring to L’Oceanic de Rimouski, and then to Saint John Flames. He spent two years with the Flames before he was signed by Syracuse Crunch for another three years.
Without getting picked in the NHL Entry Draft, Walser continued to play in various smaller leagues until he was signed by the Eisbaren Berlin of the German Ice Hockey League. There, Walser aided the team to achieve the German Championship title in 2005 and 2006.
Walser has earned multiple awards such as the CHL Defenceman of the Year, QMJHL First All Star Team, and many more.
