Niklas Persson
Niklas Persson is a Swedish forward on Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk.
Persson played most of his long career in the Swedish Elitserien, beginning his career with Huddinge in 1994. He played three seasons in the SuperElit league before making his Elitserien debut with Leksand in 1997. He played his first full season with the club in 1998-99, and played the next 7 years with the team, helping it earn a promotion to the Elitserien in 2002 while scoring 9 goals and 22 points. He was named team captain in 2002, and had 33 points in 2003-04, but the club was again demoted to the Allsvenskan. He put up 15 goals and 38 points to help the club win its way back to Sweden’s top league and served as captain for another season before joining Linkoping in 2006. He helped Linkoping reach the Elitserien championship twice in a row in 2007 and 2008, but won silver medals both time. He was named an assistant captain in 2008, and had the best season of his career, scoring 21 goals and 42 points. He joined Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in 2009, and had 13 goals and 37 points in his first KHL season.
