Denis Shemelin is a Kazakh defenseman on Amur Khabarovsk.

One of the oldest members of the team, Shemelin began his playing career in the Russian Second League with Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk in 1998. He played four years with the club, and scored 17 points and 111 penalty minutes with the team in 2003-04. That season earned him his first shot at the Russian Super League, where he played three years with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. He was traded to Barys Astana in 2008, and played another season in the KHL with the club before joining Lada Togliatti. He played just 55 games over two different seasons with the club before being traded to Amur Khabarovsk in 2010.

Shemelin played for Kazakhstan at the 2004 World Championships and 2006 Olympics.
