Dallas Drake
Dallas Drake is a Canadian winger in the NHL. He finished his career with his second stint on the Detroit Red Wings.
Drake was drafted by Detroit in 1989. He remained at Northern Michigan University, where he won the 1991 NCAA Championship. He went straight to the Red Wings' permanent roster in 1992, but was traded to Winnipeg in 1993. He stayed with Winnipeg after they moved to Phoenix and became the Coyotes. He made a name as one of the better checking forwards in the NHL, known more for his defensive abilities and willingness to take the body.
In 2000, he signed with St. Louis, where he was named team captain after the 2004-05 lockout. After being placed on waivers in 2007, he signed with Detroit, where he hoped to win a Stanley Cup. In 2008, when Detroit defeated Pittsburgh to win the Cup, Captain Nick Lidstrom made sure Drake was the first player to celebrate with it after he had received it on behalf of the team. He played in 1009 career games.
