Aleksei Vasiliev

Aleksei Vasiliev is a Russian defenseman on Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

Vasiliev was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1995, after a strong showing at the U18 World Juniors that year. He spent the next two years with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, totalling 21 points in 84 games before coming to North America in 1998. He appeared in just one game with the Rangers, recording 2 penalty minutes, and spent most of the three years he played in the US in the AHL. He returned to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in 2001, where he put up 16 points and 40 penalty minutes in his first year back. He won back-to-back league titles with the club in 2002 and 2003, and set a career high with 21 points in 2008-09. He was named an alternate captain for the 2009-10 season.
