Alexei Emelin

Alexei Emelin is a Russian defenseman on Ak Bars Kazan.

Emelin was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, after putting up 6 points and 198 penalty minutes in just 53 games in the Russian Second League. He has yet to play in North America, opting to remain with Lada Togliatti, his original youth club. He made his Super League debut in 2004, and played his first full season in 2005-06, when he scored 12 points and 131 penalty minutes. He played another year with Togliatti before signing with Ak Bars Kazan in 2007. He won back to back KHL titles with the team in 2009 and 2010.

Emelin has won a number of medals as a member of Team Russia, including back to back silver medals at the 2005 and 2006 World Juniors. He also won a bronze medal at the 2007 World Championships.
