Evgeny Varlamov is a Russian defenseman on Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Varlamov has played his entire career in the Russian professional hockey leagues, beginning in 1995, when he joined Krylia Sovetov in the Russian SuperLeague. He played his first full season the next year, scoring 8 points and 26 penalty minutes in 39 games, and pretty much cemented his place in the top tier of Russian hockey leagues. He was dealt to Ak Bars Kazan in 1998, where he played the next five seasons before joining Magnitogorsk in 2003. He developed into a very capable defenseman with the club, scoring a career high 10 goals in 2004-05, his second year with the club, and setting a career high with 133 penalty minutes the following season. In 2007, he won his first and only league championship with the team, and set a career high in points the following year with 26.
