Saturday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs ran into one of the top forward line combinations in the NHL, when Sidney Crosby and Evgeny Malkin were paired together in an attempt to get Crosby’s offensive production jumpstarted. The move worked out great for the Penguins, as both superstars turned in four point nights to lead Pittsburgh to a 4-1 victory over the Leafs. 
Crosby’s four point night was also a historic one, as his second assist gave him 200 career points and his third period goal gave him 100 career goals. This made Crosby the fastest active player in the NHL to reach 300 career points, reaching the mark in only 219 career games. Malkin pitched in with four helpers of his own, bringing his point total to a league-leading 10 points.
The under-talented Leafs struggled to get anything going on offense yet again, with Nik Antropov’s first period powerplay goal standing as their loan tally on the evening. The Leafs have scored only 9 goals this season, while allowing 16.
