Bisque refers to a competition format of golf where golfers use their preferred handicap stokes with a unique twist. There is a correct way of applying handicap stokes in accordance with the handicap rankings of the course holes. With bisque, the rules are a bit different. A golfer can apply their own handicap stokes to any holes of their choosing, but, the player has to announce first-hand what handicap stoke they will be using on the hole before they tee off of that particular hole.

How Bisque Works?

The handicap rank that the golfer uses will be indicated on the scorecard of the other players. Despite allowing the golfer to use any handicap stoke that they desire, the rules of the game must be kept fair. That is why the golfer is required to announce what kind of handicap stoke they will be using.

Other Bisque Terms: Bisque Par

In golf, there are other bisque terms that a golfer uses aside from the one that was mentioned earlier. These are bisque par and bisque stoke. Bisque par uses the competition format as bisque, but its foundation is based on the Par vs. Match Play. Normally, when playing bisque format, the golfer can choose whatever handicap rank they will use to any hole as long as they announce it first-hand. In bisque par, it is up to the golfer to decide which hole to use their preferred handicap stoke. They don’t have to choose ahead of time the handicap stoke they will be using for the hole until after the player has finished or completed that hole.

Other Bisque Terms: Bisque Stoke

For the bisque stoke format, the rules is quiet unique. This bisque term refers to the kind of handicap stoke that a golfer awards to another player as an enticement for a match. This type of format is like a bet. The handicap stoke that the golfer was awarded will be used on any hole as long as the player announces before the match begins which hole he or she is planning to use it on.
