Felipe Agilar
Felipe Aguilar is a pro golfer from Chile who has had 30 wins under his belt. Born on November 7, 1974, Aguilar currently plays on the European tour.
He is credited for putting Chilean golf on the map, being the second player after McKenzie to earn full membership to the European Tour. However, he failed to hold on to full playing rights at the end of the season. However, two wins at the Challenge Tour in 2007 as well as five top ten finishes gave him the ticket to rejoin the European tour in 2008.
Aguilar won his first European Tour title in February, the next year at the Astro Indonesia Open winning by one stroke over leader Jeev Milkha Singh. He had started the day with a two stroke lead over Singh but by the 18th tee in the final round, Singh was leading and Aguilar trailing by one stroke. This win catapulted Aguilar, then a relative unknown into instant fame, at least in golfing circles.
Aguilar owns a successful construction company in his native country, which his wife manages when he is away for tournaments. All in all, the Chilean golfer has four amateur wins, six pro wins and several team appearances. Amateur wins include the 1990 Chilean Amateur Open, in 1991 both the Chilean Amateur Open South American Championship and the Chilean Amateur Open in 1992.
His professional titles include the 2008 Astro Indonesia Open, the 2007 Post Bank Challenge and the OKI Mahou Challenge de Espana. He also won the 2002 and 2008 Chile Opens.
