Arnold Daniel Palmer is a professional golfer from America. He was born on September 10, 1929 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and is known by fans and players alike, as “The King.” Currently, he stands as one of the most highly-successful golfers who are now business executives. He is also known as a popular advertising spokesman as well as a skilled aviator. Due to his down-to-earth personality, he has become one of the most popular figures in both the golfing world and the whole world.

Palmer has won numerous events throughout his playing career. Some of these wins date back to 1955. A huge part of his popularity is attributed to the fact that he was the very first golf star of golf’s “television stage” which started in the 1950s.

Palmer learned golf from his father, who was then the head professional as well as greens keeper at the Latrobe Country Club. His father had allowed Palmer to accompany him as he went about maintaining the course. Even at age seven, Palmer was able to break 70 while playing at the Bent Creek Country Club. At a young age, Palmer was only allowed to play around the Latrobe course during times when the members were not playing.

Being one of golf’s stars, Palmer lived up to his status and managed to garner a total of 94 professional wins. Sixty-two of these wins were won on the PGA Tour, putting him on 5th place of most wins on the PGA Tour. In addition, ten of total titles were won on the Champions Tour, while 22 were won on other tournaments including Senior events. Aside from being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame (1974), Palmer also received the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.
