Sutherland was born on July 4, 1964, in Sacramento, California. He is the brother of fellow professional golfer David Sutherland. He is married to his wife Mary and has been since 2000. They live in Sacramento, California. In addition to golf, Sutherland enjoys following baseball and basketball.
Kevin stands 185 cm tall and his listed weight is 84 kg. He is known for his unusual grip and unorthodox swing. Sutherland attended the Christian Brothers High School. For college, he attended Fresno State University.
While at Fresno State University, Sutherland was named an All-American twice.
PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions
Sutherland officially joined the PGA in 1996 but he had qualified to play in 1992. He joined the PGA Tour Champions in 2014.
For the PGA Tour, he won the 2002 World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championships. This was his first PGA Tour title.
For the Tour Champions, on the other hand, he had had 5 victories including the 2017 Charles Schwab Cup Championship and the 2019 Rapiscan Systems Classic, Principal Charity Classic. He has consistently been one of the top earners in the PGA and the PGA Champions. As of November 2021, he is reported to have earned more than $25 million throughout his career.
For 2021, he won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, defeating Paul Broadhurst. In the same year, he won the PURE Insurance Championship. He also finished within the top 10 at the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.
