Sam Horsfield was born on October 8, 1996, in Manchester, England. When he was five years old, he and his family moved to the United States. He keeps residences in both England and the US.
In 2015, he was named to the Walker Cup but he had to withdraw because of issues with his visa. In 2016, he was the runner-up at the Western Amateur.
Career
Horsfield turned pro in 2017. He qualified to play in the European Tour in 2018. In August 2020, he won the Hero Open, his first title on the European Tour. He beat Thomas Detry by one stroke. A few weeks later in the Celtic Classic, he once again beat Detry, by two strokes this time.
In May 2022, Horsfield won the Soudal Open by two strokes. He beat Ryan Fox and Yannik Paul. In 2022, he made the cut to play in both the US Open and The Open Championship. Also in 2022, he finished in the Top 18 of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
