Joseph Brian Gay is a professional golfer who is best known for currently playing on the PGA Tour. Born on December 14, 1971 in Fort Worth, Texas, Gay was a military brat, but was pretty much raised in Fort Rucker, Alabama, where his father was assigned as an NCO of the U.S. Army, and was involved in flight operations.

Since Gay was an only child, he spent a great deal of his time during his youth playing golf at the Fort Rucker golf course. He started on the practice area before moving onto the course. During those times, he played with a number of military retirees who encouraged him to continue playing. During his teen years, he played well and dominated local events which gained him entrance via scholarship to the University of Florida. There, he was a part of the Florida Gators golfing team that represented the university to the NCAA competitions. He then became an All-American and was able to lead the team to two NCAA Championships.

After several years, Gay finally won his very first victory on the PGA Tour in 2008 when he won the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun. A year later, he was able to pick up another victory at the Verizon Heritage event.

Throughout his career, Gay was able to accumulate 12 victories at professional events, however, only 3 of these victories were won on the PGA Tour. Gay has also participated in all of the Major Championships, but most of the time he failed to make the cut.

Recently, Gay was referred to in “Bud, Sweat and Tees: A Walk on the Wild Side of the PGA Tour” which was done by Alan Shipnuck.
