Schwartzel Celebrates Another Title

South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel has won a second consecutive European Tour title after clinching the Alfred Dunhill Championships on home soil by 12 strokes on Sunday.

Schwartzel, who won last week’s Thai Championship by 11 shots, was too good as he finished with a 24-under-par total of 264, ahead of Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg in second, while Gregory Bourdy, Garth Mulroy and Andy Sullivan tied for third.

Following on from his drought-breaking success in Thailand, 28-year-old Schwartzel was delighted to claim back-to-back titles.

“That doesn’t happen often,” Schwartzel said. “Normally after a win by such a big margin, it’s hard to put up the same show the next week.

“To me that’s the most satisfying - to continue the form that I had up in Bangkok after the flight and the jetlag and come here and play the same sort of golf.”

Schwartzel’s 2012 season now looks a lot better after his twin triumphs and he added: “A month and a half ago it had been a pretty disappointing year for me. It’s turned out to be a pretty good year now.”
