Karrie Webb won her seventh Australian Ladies Masters title with a final score of 11-under-par-61 for a six stroke victory on Sunday. Webb walked one step ahead of defending champion Katherine Hull and South Korean player Lee Bo-mee at the Royal Pine course where Webb matched her 1999 win which was also a tournament record.
However, Webb had her lead threatened on Sunday, despite making up for it with a flawless game on the final day which included an eagle-2 on the seventh hole. After shooting a 64 on Saturday, she sank a seven-footer for par on the par-3 11th after she made her tee shot on the bunker. Hull was a close second, pulling a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-5 12th but this was followed by a 10-footer from Webb who came back up on the lead once again by two strokes.
Hull was impressed by Webbâs game, saying that she played ârock solidâ golf.
âIt was just rock solid,â Hull said. âShe was swinging it well all day. I couldnât make a putt coming in, but it was just absolutely clinic golf on Karrieâs part.â
Webb has won 7 of the 21 Australian Masters titles, playing in a total of 19 of the tournaments. She won her first Australian Masters title in 1998.
