Tiger a No Show at Chevron World Challenge

Tiger Woods had to withdraw his name from competing in the Chevron World Challenge, which he hosts annually for a small, invited, field. An “AP” article published on 11-30-2009, quotes Woods as saying that “I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week,” and “I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I’m very sorry that I can’t be there.”

He cannot be there due to a car crash left him with cuts and bruises when his SUV hit a fire hydrant and a tree at 2:25 a.m. Friday outside his home in Windermere, Florida. The circumstances surrounding the accident are extremely vague and Woods has added fuel to the fire by not cooperating with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Woods issued a statement Sunday saying the accident was his fault, but he did not address any of the questions still swirling around it.His request was that it remain “a private matter,” but with the Florida Highway Patrol still investigating,Woods may not get his way. In fact, there are now stories being cited by TMZ.com that the FHP is pursuing a warrant – though it has not formally sought one out – after being shut down by Tiger’s lawyer.

All of this is highly suspect. An early morning accident involving only Woods’ SUV, reportedly driving without shoes, and two rear windows smashed in by Elin, Woods wife, in an effort to help him escape the damaged vehicle. There are rumors that Woods has been seeing another woman. The reference to these “ rumors” involved a story published last week in the National Enquirer alleging that Woods had been seeing a New York nightclub hostess, and that they recently were together in Melbourne, where Woods competed in the Australian Masters.

I say that the damage is already done. If Woods wants to clear things up, he should man up, state the truth and accept his due consequences. The adoring public will be more accepting of tghis behavior than the anticipated hiding behind his lawyer.
