It was in the same field that Seve won the British Open in 1984. He is currently recovering from brain cancer but is optimistic about his future plans. He has described his fight against cancer in golfing terms, to the delight of the sports press.

Ballesteros mentioned that his recovery to be “under par,” and he likened chemotherapy to moments when he had to maneuver “between two trees.” In general he thinks that what he is undergoing now a little more difficult yet similar to the challenges of playing golf.

He revealed this while promoting the Volvo Match Play Championship that will be played for the first time in Spain. The event will be played from October 29 to November 1 and is said to have ties with Seve’s cancer foundation.

The Match Play Championship will feature the likes of Corey Pavin and Colin Montgomerie of Ryder Cup fame. The site will be the golf course at Finca Cortesin.
