Clarke declined to reveal too much about the condition, but said that he and Mickelson “had a good conversation about various things.” He also adds that he understands what Mickelson and his family are going through because he himself has been through it as well.

The golfer also adds “It’s very sad news, but it’s early stages so we hope all the tests and everything else go as well as we all wish for.”

Clarke also spoke of how the Mickelsons were there for him when he lost his wife Heather in August 2006. He also added that “They’re both really good people and they have been extraordinarily kind to me.”

Being through what the Mickelsons are experiencing now, Clarke hopes to be able to help them with the knowledge he gained during his wife’s sickness. He says, “I’m only too happy and keen to pass on whatever little tidbits I can — what’s coming, the ups and downs, what to expect.”
