His management company Blue Giraffe Sports said in a press release that Wendy Goydos died on the morning of Saturday, January 17, 2009. They also said that the details of her death weren’t available as of the moment.

Goydos and his wife divorced because of the latter’s addiction to pain killers. In 2004, Goydos was awarded full custody of his two daughters Chelsea and Courtney. Since then, Goydos has been balancing PGA Tour events together with the responsibilities of single fatherhood. He has also been known to take time off tours in order to spend time with his kids. He rarely ever plays more that two weeks in a row. Goydos also takes his kids to golfing events whenever necessary.

This American player is a two time winner on the PGA Tour. He was last seen on the golfing circuit attempting to make the cut for the Sony Open in Honolulu. It was on his way home from that event when he learned of his ex-wife’s sudden death.

To celebrate the memory of his ex-wife, Goydos and his family has requested that instead of sending flowers and cards they would appreciate it more if donations are made to the National Headache Foundation in Wendy Goydos’ name.
