Wyndham Clark Wins First PGA Tour Title at the Wells Fargo Championship

Wyndham Clark won the Wells Fargo Championship three strokes ahead of Xander Schauffele.

This is the first PGA Tour title for the American player. He started the final round with a two-shot lead, finishing three under 68, beating Schauffele.

“It’s been a long five years to get to this point, it was well worth the wait and I’m so grateful,” Clark said.

He had lost his two-shot advantage in the first three holes and he trailed Schauffele after seven holes. He eventually pulled away on the back nine.

“I think in years past I might have folded,” he said.

“This time I just stayed patient and hung in there and got hot on the back side.”

“There’s so many times I wanted to cry and break clubs - and I did break the club sometimes - in this journey and to get to this point is so sweet,” Clark added.

“It’s just amazing to finally do this.”

Clark had been in 133 events prior to this win. His best showing was a playoff loss to Brian Gay back in 2020.

This season, he enjoyed five Top-10 finishes.

Tyrrell Hatton and Harris English tied for the number 3 spot.
