That’s according to Bryson DeChambeau, that is. He says that Woods has cut him off.
DeChambeau left the PGA Tour for the LIV Golf Tour. He was speaking to reporters after a practice round of one of LIV Golf’s upcoming events. He was asked if there were any players who had cut off or are no longer talking to him after he left.
“Yeah, definitely. I’m sure you can guess who,” DeChambeau said.
He later confirmed that he was referring to Woods.
“He’s been a great friend,” DeChambeau continued. “I texted him on his birthday. It is what it is. He has his viewpoints on it and thinks we’re potentially hurting his record. If anything, nobody is ever going to touch his record.”
“That’s just it, that’s the bottom line. There’s a chance to grow the game even more, and I hope one day he’ll see the vision that we all have out here.”
Unlike DeChambeau, Woods has not confirmed any strain on their relationship.
If it is true, it is not the first golf friendship that has been affected by the appearance of the LIV Golf Series.
There have been noticeable tensions between Patrick Reed of LIV and Rory McIlroy of the PGA Tour.
It’s a sign that the tension between the two tours is extending to the personal life of the players. Both Woods and McIlroy are staunch pro-PGA and have been vocal about their criticisms of LIV Golf.
