Why is the national animal of Scotland a unicorn, I still don't understand. Have been trying to guess why but I could get a concrete reason.

The unicorn has its roots from Celtic mythology. It has been a part of Scotland for centuries now.

Well since ancient times or regardless of nationality. People always believed in the unknown and the same can be said here. I mean me for example when I get to something vital I even use good luck charms? Bottom line whatever can boost your morale use it. If anything this is unique as it is not a cow, or a chicken. It is a freaking unicorn!!! Mascots are a thing.
