Paul Adams announced his retirement yesterday. I had never heard of him until I read this article. It seems he started out strong in 1995-96 with his unique bowling style described by some as a
frog in a blender
. Once players got use to his unique style his effectiveness wore off and it's been downhill ever since.

Frog in a blender doesn't exactly sound like a compliment! There seem to have been a lot of retirements announced all of a sudden, I hope that enough talent remains that we can still enjoy the game.

It caught the cricketing world by surprise when he first came to the game but the problem was that he lacked variety. It was easy to defeat him, because you just had to learn how to handle his bowling.

That's the problem with less versatile players. They learn one style only and then it's very easy for another team to beat with the proper strategy. Too bad he didn't learn something beyond the "frog in blender" style.

I'm not sure that it was a learned style, but rather just what happened when he tried to bowl :P It was just what he did-since I have seen others doing the same, I cannot believe it was taught to him.
