The England Cricket Board announced today that Michael Vaughan is retiring from all forms of professional cricket effective immediately. According to a statement made by Vaughan, it is the right time for him to step back and make room for some of the up-and-coming new players.

Good luck to Michael Vaughn on his retirement. Im sure he is already looking forward to not having to deal with drunken slob/yob, Andrew Flintoff. What a disgusting, shameful example of a so called athlete. I have littl almost no patience with cricket and even less with the players. THEY ARE NOT ATHLETES AND NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS TENNIS PLAYERS. For example, lets compare Flintoff who is our best player (ha ha ha ha!!!) and Andy Murray. I know, there is no comparison is there. One is a professional, massively talented, dedicated athlete destined for huge success and the other is Andrew Flintoff a professional and dediacated drinker and all round disgarce to sport in this country. Lets face it, cricket is on a par with snooker and darts in terms of levels of fitness needed or otherwise Flintoff wouldnt think it was a necessary part of his training to drink so much in the evening that his coach could smell it on him the following day. It poses the question,, if thats how Flintoff prepares for internationals I wonder how it compares to how Andy Murray has prepared for his quarter final match at Wimbledon today. If anyone has photos of Murray doing tequila shots and taking charge of a pedalo on the Thames at 3am today then i will happily admit im wrong!! I see on the back page of the express today that Flintoff has dominated the page with a small banner dedicated to Murray. Its shameful that we celebrate Flintoff horrendous drinking and yobbish behaviour at the expense of our finest athlete on the eve of a huge match at the biggest tournament in the world. I wish the England team even less success than they have managed and Andrew Flintoff is well on his way to becoming another George Best. Apologies to the family and friends of George Best, he was ridiculously talented and an inspiration to millions,I actually just meant that Flintoff can drink as much, probably more but doesnt have a shred of class and a laughable amount of talent in comparison to Best. Again, congratulations to Michael Vaughn on your career and a lifetime without Flintoffs disgraceful behaviour.

Michael Vaughan is a very talented player and those talents will be missed on the cricket field. Personally, I think there was still plenty of room on the cricket field for him and the new, up-and-coming players.

I hope that he finds some peace out of the limelight, and that he finds something to keep him occupied. Most players at least do something when they retire, not going out completely, so I really do hope he doesn't find himself unhappy.
