I have a feeling something like that might end up being done at the very last minute. People like to bid that way to get the best prices too, so who really knows. Could maybe go either way.

I noticed the auction is pre-approved bidders, which I imagine is to weed out the average idiot bidding a million dollars just to bid a million dollars. I think its great they will end up doing such a great thing with such a silly occurrence.

The profits going to charity is the only intelligent thing about this whole dust up. I hope someone throws a lot of cash at it and does the charity benefiting from all this a lot of good.

The jersey ended up selling for 175,100 to a car dealership owner in Mass. I think it would have fetched far more from someone with tons of cash or even before gas prices got so high in the US. Its too bad they got under a quarter mil for it.

282 people bidded on the jersey and it sold for $175,100. Kevin Meehan of Imperial Cars in Massachusetts purchased it. His father died of cancer and his stepfather has it now.

I was browsing Ebay for a Mom's Day gift and saw the listing for the "curse" jersey on the front page for charity. The current high bid is over 70k, and the listing includes a new jersey, and attendance to a home game where the jersey will be presented. I wonder what it will end at in two days time?

Cool. Thanks for letting us know. I've been wondering where it was going to be auctioned at. I'll have to go check it out and I'm glad the money is going to a worthy cause.

I wonder who the bidders are. Do you think any Yankee fans are bidding on this accursed shirt? I rather doubt it - anyway, I'm glad the money is going to charity so I hope it's won for some ridiculously high price.

Hey, that's still a good price for a jersey. ;) Did the dealer owner get to pick the charity? Who was it?

The price was way too high for me to even consider buying, but it's good to hear the proceeds will be going to a charity.
As for the whole curse thing, I cannot help but laugh.
