Team's Foundation

I had never heard of this team so I went to their website and checked out their history. It seems that back in 1898 some vocational school athletes received a soccer ball as an award for winning a competition. They taught themselves to play, discovered that they weren't half bad and in 1899 the Werder Bremen Club was founded.

I always like hearing the history behind things like that. Do you know what kind of competition it was? It seems a little odd that their prize was a soccer ball, but look what came out of it!
