Strickly my views and opinion. What an NBA off-season for our fans and the Brooklyn Nets. According to multiple reports, the trade market for Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant has stalled up with little to no traction. Woj said "The Lakers have yet, I'm told, to be aggressive in trying to put a deal together to get [Kyrie] from Brooklyn. That may come, that may evolve with time. But so far right now, there's no traction really on deals with either Irving or Durant." With all this in mind the best course of action maybe reapporachment. It's a term you often hear in International relationships. Reapporachment is the re-establishment of cordial relations between two countries. Essentially, rebooting the relationship between and allies or foes where both countries can function within the international framework."International politics, like all politics, is a struggle for power, Hans J. Morgenthau." Moreover, Brooklyn Nets probably unsatisfied with the status quo decided to restart the culture at the price of upsetting their two superstars. Brooklyn nets playing hardball on Kyrie Irving's extension talks have probably led KD to request a trade. After the James Harden trade and carrying the load, he had to for Brooklyn to stay competitive who would blame him for feeling upset. Not to mention the end result was being the only team who did not win a single playoff game this year. Still, there was a big optimism from their two superstars about what next year can be like. With joe harris and Ben Simmons coming back from injury we can finally see what a healthy Brooklyn Nets would look like."In terms of my extension, man, I don't really plan on going anywhere," Irving said. "When I say I'm here with Kev, I think that it really entails us managing this franchise together alongside Joe (Tsai, the owner) and Sean (Marks, the GM) and just our group of family members that we have in our organization," Irving said. "So it's not just about me and Kev, I don't want to make it just about that. We are cornerstones here, but we have Ben, and we have a few other guys under contract. "And I think we just gotta make some moves this offseason, really talk about it and really be intentional about what we're building and have some fun with it, make it enjoyable and hopefully we get to start from Day 1 just as a squad and as a family and we just really worry about us," Irving continued. "You know, sometimes I feel like the noise on the external world or outside noise can seep in, and, you know, I'm not the type of person to allow that to happen. So as we build together as a squad, I just think we need to be tougher mentally and just more honest about what we want to accomplish and just stick to the goal, stick to the mission." Stick to the mission? Well, Nets management had other ideas. Maybe Kyrie was right to stick to the mission as the best pathway forward. Look at Golden State over the last three seasons. In the 2019-2020 season, Klay Thompson is recovering from an ACL tear, Steph Curry breaks his hand, and newly acquired D'Angelo Russell was a flop who they end up trading mid-season for Andrew Wiggins. The Golden State Warriors go to win 15 games that year and got the number 2 overall pick. In the second year of the post-Durant era, they draft James Wiseman with the second pick overall but Klay Thompson tearing in his Achilles during the off-season put dammer to their plans. Klay Thompson is out for the rest of the season again. During the 2020 draft, they pick James Wiseman who tears his meniscus the same year. He needed surgery and his recovery went on the following year. Steph Curry bounces back to MVP form but still, the 2020-2021 season ends in they miss the playoffs via the play-in format. After all these setbacks and injuries Warrior's message was I want to see how everything fits before we make a decision. Fast forward to today, they are NBA champions. The last three years were probably the darkest years for them. Nobody knew what would happen to Klay but still stuck with it regardless of any doubt and gave the core a fair shot to compete. It would have been easy for them to trade their assets and accept the reality that was staring them down at the time. They choose perseverance and made all the difference. Maybe all the Nets need is some perseverance. Let's examine their off-season moves this year. They resign Patty Mills and Nick Clanxston on 2 years deals and traded one of their very few 1st rounds picks for Royce O'neal. Likewise, they sign a talented wing scorer in TJ Warren. You don't make these moves if you rebuilding. All these pieces fit in with their main core. () All they're missing is a legit starting Center. Brooklyn Nets still have over 10 million in trade exception to acquire one. So my question is why not run it back and give this group a fair shot? This would require Brooklyn Nets to reengage their two superstars and probably lockin Kyrie for the long term. What other options do they have? I don't care how unpredictable Kyrie Irving is, there is no way you can lose James harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving in one calendar year. That's a direct reflection of the Organization. Tiger Woods once said, "Remember winning takes care of everything." If the Brooklyn Nets were to win a championship this upcoming season everyone would forget about the drama-filled offseason. I rather take the Warriors path than the one the Nets are currently on.
