Virender Sehweg might have been voted 2008 Cricketer of the Year by Wisden but he has nothing but praise for his fellow Daredevil, Gautam Gambhir. Sehweg described him as a rare talent and stated, "He has all the virtues of a quality opener."
Sehweg has always been a team player. One of the things that make him a good captain is his ability to recognize contributions made by the rest of the team and appreciate their abilities.
I don't know about that. Gambhir is in the ranks with Sachin in that he is only the fourth batsman from India to score a double century in a home tour game. Also his average runs are high which puts him up there in ranking to me.
It is very possible with some more hard work that most could rise up and meet more expectations that many are giving him right now. The question is, can he really do it or if not that, then, does he want to?
I think I can respect players of all teams better when they are talking about another team member or sports member with the right tone. I don't really care for those who bash others in the game.
I am slowly starting to think that he does want to rise to the occasion but you know its always easier said than done. Players train hard and practice it seems forever to be th best and sometimes that still is not enough.
