It seems the Sourav Ganguly also plays for another team, the Kolkata Knight Riders. I was reading this in an article posted on Ganguly's website, souravganguly.net. It looks like he may continue to play for them and will not be going into full retirement.
Isn't that just his local club? You know like how Premier league football players (English) play for both a regional team-say Man Utd, and also the national team?
Well as I understand he's just retired from international cricket, not his local team.
Joseph, that may explain how I get so confused at times when I read about someone retiring from cricket. I am from the US and cricket is still a fairly new sport to me. I guess I did not realize that a player could play for more than one team.
Worse, depending upon their heritage I have seen players play for two countries. They cannot play at the same level obviously, but in competitions where both teams are not playing.
I suppose anyone growing up in a country where cricket is played no thought is given to playing for two teams. Although it could divide loyalties if your favorite local player was playing for another international team besides your favorite.
