I have to agree, this whole thing was so funny. I heard they were selling the shirt and donating the money to charity. Anyone heard how much they got for it?
How did I miss hearing this? That is just hilarious. And I LOVE the idea of burying all the other teams jerseys - that the way to squelch superstition, make it ridiculous.
Workers dug up a Red Sox jersey buried at the site of the new stadium today in an effort to thwart the Yankees. I for one think it was horribly unprofessional of the worker to bury it in the first place. A bit funny, but not smart.
Ahh, come on swoosh, lighten up a little! I for one found the whole thing to be hilarious. Especially Hank Steinbrenner first saying true Yankee fans aren't superstitious and then later having the shirt dug up.
I really thought this was funny too. As far as people in sports not being superstitious, that's a lot garbage. I'll bet if there was a rumor that there were more buried there they'd be digging up the whole place trying to find them. If I were him I would have just laughed and said that's where we want them, under our feet.
You guys, picodoll/ArmchairQ, should sell that idea of burying all their opponents' shirts on the field, to Steinbrenner. It's really cool. Now that they've removed the hex, they have no excuse when they lose to the hated Sox.
I'm not saying it wasn't funny, but can you imagine how much crap that worker got? I mean its like working at McDs and spitting in the burgers. Not cool. I didn't see how much they got if they auctioned it already. Just that they dug it up and were going to.
