Yankees: Horribly over-rated, or worth all the hype?

Few other Baseball teams have such a huge amount of hype attached to them as the New York Yankees.Due to this they have many fans, and also quite a few who hate their guts. Personally I lie somewhere smack in the middle, since I find more than a few of their fans to be very obnoxious. They are a good team no doubt, but I cannot help but cheer when they get defeated...if only to get the idiot fans to shut up for 2 whole seconds. What are your thoughts?

I personally don't like the Yankees simply because when I was growing up they dominated and I tend to root for the underdog. But I do think they are worth all the hype. They have a massive pay roll and are constantly getting superstars. Any time a team has a bunch of great players they are worth the hype.

I think they are worth all the hype just as much as any team thats over-hyped. They are over hyped alot due to all the close rivalries they have. Yankees/Mets, Yankees/Red Sox. You can't help but get alot of passionate fans and its exploited for financial gain.

I think they are well within the reasons of hype. I mean look at alot of the other teams out there, they get hyped for all kind of small things. Also each league needs a team that is highly hyped, to an international level almost. Go outside US and alot of people know about New York Yankees, while almost none about Red Soxs....

Its not for me that they dominated, its that they became stuck up. Of all the teams that do the money, fame stuff the yanks are the ones that I remember being first in my childhood.

Yeah, I just am sick of all the money throwing and players and fans being so stuck up! Talented team or no, that is no reason to go around acting like arrogant jerks! All it does is make other teams and fans want to see them go down that much more.

Lots of the big players have become arrogant and self-indulgent. They worry more about how many millions they can get a year instead of how many runs they can score or outs they can help accomplish. Its not about the game these days as much as the money. The Yankees just seem to have more to throw around than other ball clubs.

I think they are worth all the hype. I mean, common whose far more better than the yankees? They have been the champ for a while, so I am sure they are worth it.

They have more than enough talent to back up the hype, but I really hate seeing them winning the World Series, instead of the less successful teams who really deserve a shot at winning the big game. They are a great team, but sometimes I think they are TOO great if that makes any sense.

I think they are over-rated but not horribly over-rated. Obviously, they have some talent. I don't like them because I love the Red Sox!
