There are many discussions and speculations going on about how L.A Galaxy has been popularizing Soccer in North America, and the U.S.A to be exact. With high profile stars such as David Beckham, and many other stand-outs rumored to be joining the team soon. Do you feel Galaxy is the start of something big for Soccer in the U.S?

Football (or soccer) game in the US cannot be matched to the popularity of the game in Europe. In my honest opinion, Americans are more interested in watching American football, baseball or basketball. Its true that soccer is becoming popular now but that doesn't mean it will match the other games that the Americans loved to watch.

Actually I disagree, it may take a while...but I could see Soccer becoming something very big eventually. Sure, it may take time...but all it really needs is some big name players for the public to latch on to.

In a way...I guess they are helping to popularize the game in the U.S As has already been mentioned, Star power is a key factor in attracting more casual fans. Say what you will, but casual fans really DO make a difference in popularity. They will buy tickets to games, purchase some shirts, it all has an effect!

L.A Galaxy is definitely helping U.S Soccer to move in the right direction on the popularity front, and hopefully other teams will follow that lead. If Soccer can appear exciting to outsiders, it will catch on.

I sure hope other teams will start following their lead! I can't believe how Galaxy is pretty much the only team that anyone has even heard of! That has to change, and more coverage on ESPN etc. should help.

That's what gets me back to the U.S teams needing more high profile players, that can be marketed like a Michael Jordan or Babe Ruth. Superstars earn fans, and sell products.

Is the US just prone to not shelling out for soccer players? We seem to be able to do just about any sport, but this one is stuck in a rut.

Many children have become interested in soccer, and names like Beckhams are helping get the rest of the family out to see games. It might not be there yet, but it could easily get there soon.

Give it a few more years, maybe a decade or so and the popularity of U.S Soccer should hopefully increase. One problem it has had in the U.S to date is that many people still associate Soccer as nothing more than a children's game. Of course, many of us know better than that.
