Afghanistan Cricket Federation came into being and that meant that cricket began to be played more seriously. The federation gained the affiliation with the ICC (International Cricket Council) in 2001. In 2003, the federation became a member of the Asian Cricket Council.

I am just happy to see that the country is taking Cricket more seriously. The future of cricket in Afghanistan sure look bright!

Always interesting to watch the growth in a new sports franchise. It takes leaps like this for any country to become more prominent in the public eye and branch out to other modes internationally.
