Ferrari threatens to pull out of F1

Officials have proposed to standardize engines across the board to reduce costs so that all the teams could continue to participate. Ferrari has issued a statement against the proposal:

"The board of Ferrari, confirming its full support for the substantial and necessary reduction in costs starting with engines, has however expressed strong reservations about the project to equalise or standardise engines. The board reserves the right to consider, together with our partners, our presence in this discipline."

Many proponents have said that it will level the playing field so that the races actually will hinge on driver talent and driving skills.

I understand the idea of evening the playing field with standarized engines. However, part of the attraction of the race has been to see which team could build the better car. This takes the challenge of the race away from the car builders themselves and, I feel, the sport could suffer because of it.
